A small starting guide

A simple session for exploring reflections and wet surfaces on everyday walks, with room for your own observations.

A modest beginning

Keep a camera and comfortable walking shoes nearby and begin with street reflections. Choose a small question about reflections and wet surfaces on everyday walks rather than trying to cover the whole subject at once.

Begin with a small visual question rather than a search for a spectacular subject. Decide what belongs inside the frame and what can remain outside it. Look at the edges before pressing the shutter. A plain scene becomes useful material when you can explain why the shapes, distances and areas of light sit together.

A five-step session

Make the note your own

Make a short sequence with deliberate differences: one closer view, one wider view and one alternative arrangement. Keep the originals and compare them at the same size. Edit for relationships instead of picking every attractive image. A contact sheet with a short sentence beneath each frame turns a walk into a repeatable exercise.

Choose a first page

A reflection boundary gives you a concrete exercise. You can also browse the whole journal and begin with the subject closest to hand.
